The Kifisou bus station is the central KTEL Bus Station at Kifisou Avenue. The bus from the Athens airport will take about 1 hour to reach the Kifisou bus station. From Italy, with departures from the harbours of Venice, Trieste, Ancona, Bari and Brindisi, you can reach Patras by ferryboat.
With that in mind, expect to pay around €35 at the end of the ride. There is also a second option for your transfer from Kefalonia airport to Skala which includes two bus rides with a change in Argostoli. The total travel time for the second option is 3 hours and 9 minutes. There is no better way to travel than by picking up a local taxi at the airport. While there is a public transportation option from Kefalonia airport to Skala, it is nowhere near as comfortable or fast as a Kefalonia taxi. This is a tricky one, and definitely down to personal preference.

It is also possible to take the bus from Argostoli to Myrtos Beach. However, in the off season, the buses do not run very frequently so make sure to plan ahead. To catch the bus to Kefalonia you will need to get to the Kifisou bus station. From the Athens airport, you can either take a taxi to the bus station or get on the X93 bus .
One of the best day trips from Argostoli is a visit to the iconic Myrtos Beach. If you could imagine the most perfect, pristine, relaxing beach, this would probably be it. A large island like Kefalonia is not suitable to drive around by scooter, car is definitely preferable. But if you only are going to see the surrounding neighbourhood where you stay, like around Lassi or Skala, then a scooter is a good way to explore the area.
